Urban Jungle Bloggers | A ‘plant gang’

May 21, 2015

Urban Jungle Bloggers - a 'plant gang' | These Four Walls blog

The latest Urban Jungle Bloggers challenge was to create a ‘plant gang’ – a grouping of plants in all shapes, sizes and textures that celebrates the rich diversity of greenery available.

I’ve amassed quite a collection of plants over recent months – neat little succulents, leafy ferns, tumbling ivy, spikey spider plants. Until now they’ve been dotted all over the house, so I had lots of fun bringing them together into one big arrangement.

To really highlight the variety of leaves and colours (I’d never before realised just quite how many shades of green there are), I decided to put every plant into a white pot. I then played around with groupings on cupboards and shelves to find spots that show them off in all their leafy splendour.

I’m really pleased with the results and I think I’ll keep these plants arranged together from now, but I’m struggling to make a call on their new home. Option one is a vintage farmhouse cupboard in the bathroom (I love the contrast between the sleek pots and the gnarled wood); option two is a built-in cabinet in the dining room, where I can position the plants around other items and let leaves spill down from the higher shelves. Any thoughts on which to plump for would be gratefully received!

Thanks Janneke! Natural foliage is so beautiful that it doesn’t need much to show it off.

Thanks Judith! I may have to put the plants in one spot for a week, and another spot the next…

I really really like the white pots! The spotlight is on the plants though I noticed that the pots aren’t plain.

Buy another ‘gang’ and some more pots so you can keep both displays! You have inspired me to update my many and scattered pot plants. Thank you.

I missed the opening event for this last year, so it was great to finally have a look around in person. The light is stunning, as is GUBI's selection of contemporary and classic designs - including the sculptural and futuristic F300 lounge chair, first designed by Pierre Paulin in the 1960s and recently relaunched.

Which room or corner is your favourite...?

I have so many happy memories from the day, but what I remember the most is all the laughter. And the funniest best men's (Chris had four!) speech I've ever heard. I wish we'd had a videographer just to capture that.

Anyway, thanks @small_round_things for the last eight years - and for the 13 before we actually got around to tying the knot!
